Challenge:
Aging and inaccurate water meters
Ineffective HVAC systems in city buildings, including City Hall
Inefficient lighting at Millennium park
Needed to address these issues without impacting other necessary projects

Solution:
Replace 8,500 water meters with Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI), which allowed the city to get real-time information on water usage and consumption
Provided Harshaw Trane’s intelligent services and preventative maintenance to existing City Hall HVAC system and replace two air intake units
Upgraded lighting, heating and air conditioning in multiple city buildings
Replaced all four HVAC units at Millennium Park’s buildings and installed LED lighting for the ball fields and concession stands
Installation of web-based controls systrems in city buildings
Results:
Significantly increased building comfort and performance in City
Hall and other city buildings
The tower based AMI system allows for better management of water utility system and enhanced
customer service
Guaranteed total savings of $13.2 million over the 20-year project
